SCHOLARSHIPS & AWARDS

- The Florida NENA ENP (Emergency Number Professional) Scholarship was established in November of 2019 and named after the late Pat Welte, former Duval Co Coordinator. Pat was a true leader of 9-1-1 in the State of Florida and one of Florida's longest standing 9-1-1 Coordinators. She was the President of Florida NENA in 1997 and became a Charter Member of Florida NENA. She was involved in NENA's ADA Committee and was an instructor for Florida NENA's 9-1-1 Boot Camp educating new 9-1-1 Coordinators across the state. Pat was one of the first NENA ENP's after the certification program was established. She was an advocate for the ENP Program and encouraged others to advance their careers by demonstrating their knowledge and dedication of 9-1-1 through this program. She was a mentor to many people in the 9-1-1 industry and it is our honor of the Florida NENA Executive Board to dedicate this scholarship in her name.

The Jim Martin award was established by the Florida Chapter of the National Emergency Number Association in honor of the former State 911 Coordinator, Jim Martin. Mr Martin was one of two original individuals assigned to 911 by the state. He was instrumental in the creation of the very first version of the Florida State Plan and created the first 911 Coordinators Meeting, both of which we still have in place today. His actions and accomplishments proved that he was a man who was clearly dedicated to the 911 industry. The Jim Martin award is presented each year to one individual who has shown dedication and outstanding service to Florida NENA and its members and the 911 industry as a whole.
